NEW HAVEN ARREST SUSPECT IN PIZZA RESTAURANT ROBBERY
(12/18/2007) NEW HAVEN- Shortly before 10 p.m. Monday, New Haven Police responded to a report of a robbery at A-1 Pizza located at 798 George Street. However, before officers arrived, the complainant and fellow employees were able to disarm and restrain the suspect identified as 22-year-old Jose Marin of New Haven.
The A-1 employees stated that after taking cash from the restaurant’s register, Marin proceeded to attempt to rob the store manager. The two employees came to the manager’s aid and after a brief struggle were able to strip him of his firearm and restrain him. Upon arrival, officers found two A-1 Pizza employees holding Marin down on the ground and proceeded to handcuff and arrest him. Marin was charged with robbery in the first degree, criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, assault in the second degree, possession of narcotics and larceny in the sixth degree.
